Within the framework of the International Biennale of Graphic Design Brno, the Organizing Committee gives the award for lifetime benefits to graphic design. In recent years, these awards have been awarded to well known graphic designers such as Rostislav Vaněk, Zdeněk Ziegler, Josef Týfa and others. In 2014 Aleš Najbrt was awarded, and František Štorm was awarded in 2016. Both laureates will present themselves at the Brno Biennial 2018 through independent exhibitions.
Aleš Najbrt is unquestionably the most famous Czech graphic designer and thanks to his numerous film and theatre posters, graphic design for the Reflex magazine, corporate design for the cities of Prague and Ostrava and more than twenty years of collaboration with the film festival in Karlovy Vary, the name of his studio is to many the personification of graphic design itself. The exhibition’s curator is Michal Nanoru.
A legend of Czech typography will conceive his own monographic exhibition together with the musician and artist Vladimir 518, who will act as the curator. They will concentrate together on the application of type design in music recording media. The theme of the exhibition is very close to František Štorm as he has designed a number of music media during his career and is an enthusiastic musician himself.
